Bar Harbor BioTechnology, Inc. Hires Robert Phelps as Company President

TRENTON, ME--(Marketwire - September 17, 2007) - Bar Harbor BioTechnology, Inc. announced the hiring of Robert Phelps as its new President. Looking to round out the business experience necessary to complete its initial product launch scheduled for October 1st, 2007, the company has completed the process by filling this important leadership role.

Robert Phelps was most recently with Applied Biosystems, Inc. and comes to BHB with a background in genetic research and brings twelve years of direct customer service experience in marketing, sales, and genetic analysis applications. He was involved with the development and expansion of the real-time PCR market for AB, and is now prepared to market a product mix that will be the "next step" for researchers focusing on genetic research. "Our products will change the nature of how scientists will do gene expression experiments going forward. Established dogmas of real-time PCR will be challenged," commented Phelps.

Joining a team of scientists that were involved in the initial spin off from The Jackson Laboratory located in Bar Harbor, Maine, Phelps will take on the role of leading the day-to-day operations of the company, as well as manage the marketing and sales responsibilities of the initial product launch. "I am thrilled that Robert has joined the BHB team. He brings both the enthusiasm and deep marketing experience we need to bring our products successfully to market," said Dr. Derry Roopenian, CSO.

Bar Harbor BioTechnology, Inc. plans to launch The Perfect Circle on October 1st, 2007, a suite of products that will combine bioinformatics applications, real-time PCR (qPCR) arrays, and bioanalysis software. "These products will allow scientists to go to one location for the entire process of validating genes identified of interest in their gene expression research," said Phelps, who is excited about the challenge ahead.
