Bar Harbor BioTechnology, Inc. Launches The PerfectCircle™
TRENTON, ME--(Marketwire - October 1, 2007) - Bar Harbor BioTechnology, Inc. announced the launch of The PerfectCircle™ today, a suite of products comprised of GeneSieve™ Bioinformatics, StellARray™ Real-Time PCR arrays, and Global Pattern Recognition™ Bioanalysis applications. Together they form an interrelating circle of products that allow scientists to perform gene expression research in an innovative way.
"Our software applications were designed by scientists for scientists," says Matt Vincent, Director of Information Technology for Bar Harbor BioTechnology, Inc. "We have applied some innovative algorithms that will save scientists time and money that they would normally spend building their own bioinformatics and bioanalysis infrastructure." The company says the algorithms of the bioanalysis software will eliminate the need to pre-select normalizer genes while increasing the sensitivity to significant expression changes in experimental samples.
The StellARray™ Real-Time PCR arrays were developed based on genes selected with GeneSieve™ Bioinformatics and designed for analysis by Global Pattern Recognition™ Bioanalysis algorithm.
"[StellARrays™] were remarkably efficient and precise in identifying Notch as a previously unrecognized signaling pathway of importance to mouse plasmacytomas..." said Herbert C. Morse III, M.D., Chief of the Laboratory of Immunopathology at NIAID/NIH. "...The arrays quickly established that NFkB signaling pathways were activated downstream of a transgene implicated in human lymphoma and postulated to be oncogenic by constitutively activating the NFkB cascade."
The company recently announced the completion of a Series A round of financing as well as receiving a Development Award from the Maine Technology Institute. The award of $334,632 was granted to BHB to develop human genetic profiling products.
