Bar Harbor BioTechnology Receives MTI Development Award

TRENTON, ME--(Marketwire - August 30, 2007) - Bar Harbor BioTechnology was awarded a Development Award from the Maine Technology Institute. An award of $334,632 was granted to BHB to develop human genetic profiling products.

Bar Harbor BioTechnology is a privately held company founded in September 2006 by scientists from Jackson Laboratories in Bar Harbor, Maine. BHB was founded to develop innovative, easy-to-use gene detection arrays, computational tools and bio-informatics resources for molecular profiling. Its technology targets the growing need of molecular scientists to accurately analyze hundreds of genes simultaneously for their expression and/or gene copy number profile.

"We are very excited to receive the State of Maine MTI Developmental Grant. It will enable us to develop new products specifically applied to study gene profile changes during human disease states and genetic risk assessment," said Derry Roopenian, Chief Scientific Officer of BHB.

Bar Harbor BioTechnology plans to launch the first suite of products called the Perfect Circle™, which can be used interchangeably for gene expression and gene copy number profiling October 1st, 2007. These products were developed to be the next step for scientists engaged in gene expression research.
